Ferret Scout Car Mk.1

Scale: 1/35 | Manufacturer: Airfix | Kit nr: A1386 | Scheme: 7th Armoured Brigade, Operation Granby, Saudi Arabia/Kuwait, 1991

about the ferret

Despite its armour, the Ferret Scout Car was not designed to engage enemy heavy armour. Instead, it relied on its low silhouette, speed, and stealth to make contact with enemy units, some of which were performing similar reconnaissance tasks. Venturing into contested areas, the Ferret was crafted to detect enemy presence without engaging in offensive actions.

Their mission was to transmit real-time radio updates to headquarters, and if they moved beyond radio range, a second HQ Ferret would relay their messages back. They provided military planners with crucial information, and if discovered, the Ferret could swiftly remove the crew from any combat situation.

regarding the build

I had a pleasure building this kit, it has a nice amount of detail and there are multiple options that you can go for. I love that you can display the windows open or closed. The antennas were realised by adding some stretched sprue. If you want to get started with 1/35 scale models, I would recommend this kit.

Explore my dioramas and vignettes which I built over the last few years.

I utilise my scale models as subjects for artwork pieces, feel free to have a look.
