about this diorama

This is a Bell UH-1D serving the Search and Rescue unit (SAR) in the German Air Force. This version depicts one from the Lufttransportgeschwader LTG 61 in Penzing, Germany. An emergency doctor is ready to embark on the helicopter, while the pilot welcomes him.

regarding the build

This is a pretty cool kit to build. It requires a little bit of filling and sanding. The kit offers two options, a transport variant and an ambulance version, I chose the latter. Regarding the bright orange doors: I started with a sand colour, and then brushed the humbrol orange layer on top. I created the base by utilising a picture frame, cardboard and some static grass. The two figures are from an Italeri NATO ground crew & pilots set. Overall I’m satisfied with the finish of the model and the diorama.

I’ve sold this diorama in 2025.

Here you”ll find my latest scale models, from 1/72 tanks to 1/16 figures.

I utilise my scale models as subjects for artwork pieces, feel free to have a look.
