about the Hurricane

The Hawker Hurricane is a British single-seat fighter aircraft of the 1930s–40s which was designed and predominantly built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. for service with the Royal Air Force (RAF). It was overshadowed in the public consciousness by the Supermarine Spitfire during the Battle of Britain in 1940, but the Hurricane inflicted 60% of the losses sustained by the Luftwaffe in the campaign, and fought in all the major theatres of the Second World War.

regarding the build

This kit is part of the Battle of Britain gift set from Revell. The collection consists of a Stuka, JU-88, Spitfire and this Hurricane. Compared to the other kits, this one feels like the most dated, tooling wise. Building this model is done in a few steps, it’s the filling, sanding and scraping that takes the majority of the time. A few parts do not fit very well, so if you want a nicely finished model you need to fill those gaps, I utilised some texture paste to help me with that.

Due to the dated tooling, certain parts are not included on the sprues. For example, the elements which hold the antenna wiring needed to be scratch built. Painting the model was done by starting with the green camouflage, then the brown tones, applying a dust filter, drybrushing the rivets and finishing off with a dark panel wash. Decals are excellent and apply well to the model.

Because my other models are displayed in an airfield scene, I decided to give this Hurricane a flying pose with the Airfix transparant stand.

This 1/144 scale diorama called 'Patrolling the sea' displays a so called Kriegsfischkutter from the German Navy navigating the waters around Norway. These small ships were armed and equipped to perform a variety of roles including minesweeping, anti-submarine warfare, patrol, and convoy escort.
This particular Chi-Ha tank of the 1st Tank Division was driving along the road, when suddenly it was engaged by two anti tank guns.

Here you''ll find my latest scale models, from 1/72 tanks to 1/16 figures.

Explore my dioramas and vignettes which I built over the last few years.

I utilise my scale models as subjects for artwork pieces, feel free to have a look.
